ARENA DI SERDICA
Danielle Anderson, Canada
We really enjoyed our trip and this hotel was a great base from which we could get to pretty much all the touristy places of interest. I found it amazing that the hotel’s lobby actually shows the ruins from Roman ruins from the III century. I can’t say I’ve ever stayed at a hotel which was a historical sigh as well. Despite what most people think, there are plenty of things to see in Sofia. Yes, it is very much cosmopolitan and gets a little crazy, but because most tourists flock to the coast, the places which we found interesting and visited were free from the usual crowds. Be sure to visit the spa centre at the hotel. Honestly, it’s a unique experience because it’s at the base of the ruins and the relax lounge has a remarkable energy.
SHERATON HOTEL
Gerhart Reinmuller, Germany
I’ll be completely honest when I say that I still held a very outdated image of Bulgaria back from the 1980s when I last visited it. A lot has changed since then!!! I was only in Sofia for a weekend, but will most likely go back for a trip with my family. The Sheraton is very central, so we got a chance to see a bit of the center and found some really great cafes nearby. I didn’t really get a chance to see as much as I wanted to because I was in town attending a business function at one of the ball rooms. Everything about the hotel, from the atmosphere, food, service and design exudes style and world class and elegance. I think all my colleges were impressed at the organization of the hotel and the excellent accommodation.
HOLIDAY INN
Don Niles, USA
I have to say this is by far one of the nicest Holiday Inns that I’ve ever stayed in. I think the hotel has probably just opened not long ago because everything at the hotel has a brand new feel to it. I can’t say a single negative thing about the hotel, service or food so I just wanted to share my views on it. I’ve been to Bulgaria many, many times but I can’t say any other hotel has come even close to this. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to directions and recommendations around the city. Amazing pool and unlike many places I’ve been to, it was really well kept and cleaned. Room was comfortable, no problems with Wi Fi internet and I was shocked to find that there was even a pillow menu. Goes to show you how far Bulgaria has come along.
LES FLEURS HOTEL
Marianne van Rijn, Netherlands
I thought this was the most charming hotel I’ve ever stayed in. My Bulgarian friend recommended it because she though I’d like it and she was right. We were given the poppy room, but honestly any room would have been great. We asked the woman at reception if we could have a look at some of the rooms before we checked in, so we got a really good look at them- they’re all with different flower designs and are all beautiful. This hotel is great if you’re looking for something comfortable, interesting and unusual. It’s very well located, right in the centre, next to shopping boulevard, so that was a big plus for us as well because we didn’t really want to travel by taxi or bus much.
METROPOLITAN HOTEL
Urs Geiser, Switzerland
I only stayed at the Metropolitan hotel for one night, but I was very pleased at the service and the hotel in general. It’s very close to the Airport and the Business Park, so I imagine people who visit the city for business (like me) will really enjoy and appreciate it. Rooms were decorated in very good taste. Great business hotel!!!
